BQ76952: BQ76952 - Cell Balancing Issue , One Cell is not balancing

Hello ,

We have connected a 14 cell (14S6P) NMC battery to BQ76952 voltage channels, in that we have connected 14 Cell to 16 Channel, and

I am facing an issue in Cell Balancing, in that cell 13 is not balancing but other cells are balancing, Cell balancing is controlled by the host (MCU via I2C), in that, If I try to balance the 13th cell I am writing 0x1000 through 0x0083 while reading the cell balancing status (0x0084) it showing 0 (but it should show 0x1000), I have tested with two board in that two board I am facing the same issue.

Hello Pavithraa,

I believe you are reading the wrong command, you also are supposed to read the cell balancing status with 0x0083.

Sorry for the inconvenient, both read and write is done in 0x0083

But i can able to read and write the cell balancing status from 1 - 12 and 14 cells, but If I am writing 13th cell (0x1000) , reading the cell balancing status it shows 0

I don't know whether the internal switch for cell balancing of 13th channel is closing or not

Hello Pavithraa,

Thank you for the clarification.

Could you share your schematic cell connections and Vcell Mode? Also, it would help if you share your .gg file.

Do you see any faults triggering when the cell is being attempted to cell balance? I would also recommend you use an oscilloscope to see if there's any feedback when you try enabling cell balancing on this cell.

Thank you for the suggestions, I didn't check the Vcell mode, the 13th cell was not enabled in Vcell , so I have enabled that it was workings
