LMR14030-Q1: Efficiency and current consumption

Part Number: LMR14030-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMR36506, LMR36503, LMR43610

Hello E2E,

Our customer system input voltage is 9V - 36V, and the output is 4.5V, working current is 70-300mA, light load standby current is 2mA. What is the efficiency of the light load?  The system's typical consumption is  0.5mA@24V. How to calculate the current consumption?

Regards,
Carlo

  • Hello Carlo, fig1 in the datasheet provides efficiency down to 3mA, with 24Vin and 5Vout. This should be good for approximating prior to customer validating with their BOM selection.

Please note that this device is not the most optimized device for light load.

LMR43610 and LMR36503,LMR36506 are the most recent devices who fit the bill for this application requirement and have more improved light load efficiency.
