LMG3422R030: Reverse Current Loss Consult about GaN

Hi Team,

Customer is worried about the reverse current loss of our GaN since the voltage drop of GaN will be large, and GaN doesn't have parallel diode inside. Could you pls help us clarify this concerns from customer about it? Thanks.

Hi Stanley,

Thanks for your question. You are correct in that the voltage drop will be larger. These reverse current losses usually happen during deadtime, so our recommendation would be to optimize the deadtime operation to limit the amount of time the FET is conducting in the reverse direction.
