    Hello,

    The VIPER06HSTR is an on off controller for flyback converters with and adjustable current limit and internal FET.  According to the data sheet the internal FET can handle 2.5 A.

    However, the typical power rating for these applications are 8 to 6 W.

    While TI does not have anything that is pin to pin compatible.  The UCC28910 has an internal FET rated for 600 mA that can be used for 9.5 W in an open frame flyback converter that uses primary side regulation.  If more FET current is required we have the UCC28911 where the internal FET is rated for 700 mA of current.  Please note both of these devices the peak current is adjustable by an external resistor similar to the VIPER06 device.
