BQ25303J: Power path current management

Hi,

We designed a li-po battery charging section with 1amp charging current.

The battery charges at 1amps while the system requires additional 500mA current to drive leds and a boost converter.

My query is that since i set the charge current 1Amp and the system requires additional 500mA,then how will the system power path be managed?

Will the power path be able to deliver 1.5A total current i.e. 1A battery charge + 500mA system current?

Hi,

Yes. In this powerpath you would hang SYS off of PMID. Direct 500mA current can be supplied to load, and 1A charging current will be regulated and supplied to battery.

Hi Kedar,

So at present i set the ichrg to 1.5A considering Ibat +Isys, is that ok?

Or should i use PMID pin for system current.

Note that the load is connected to Vbat.

In such a situation, the total charge current should be set according to IBAT and ISYS requirements
