BQ79616-Q1: scheme recommendation

Part Number: BQ79616-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ79616,

Hi team,

Large energy storage BMS applications without using daisy chain construction for monitoring 16 cells. Could you provide some recommended scheme?

Could you help resolve this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hello Cherry,

If you only need to monitor 16 cells, then you can use the BQ79616-Q1 without the daisy chain. The BQ79616 has 16 VC/CB channels which can be attached to up to 16 battery cells.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for your help.

And the customer has also noticed the 76952, is this one a good choice? Is there any typical difference between these 2?  Regarding 76952, how about the acquisition cycle?

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Cherry

  • Cherry,

Yes the BQ75952 is a good product and may be more suited to your customer's application, but it is supported by a different team so I don't know all the details about it. At the high level, it is similar in functionality to the BQ79616, but it is more targeted at industrial applications. The BQ79616-Q1 was developed for automotive applications, though we do have some customer's using for EIS, electric scooter, and other industrial applications as well.
