TPS563201: Reduce current ripple in light load

Hi team,

My customer choose a Buck converter TPS563201, but they found a big current ripple in the light load due to the pulse skip mode.

So customer want to check if there are any ways to reduce the current ripple in the light load?

Besides, if customer don't need pulse skip mode, the TPS563208 maybe a good choice?

Hi, chen!

TPS563208 is in FCCM mode, with a good light-load ripple performance. But another consider when using FCCM-mode IC is light-load efficiency, because the high switch frequency in light load, the loss is dominant by switching loss. If there no other concern about the light-load efficiency, 563208 is a good choice.

And you also can choose large value LC to make ripple small, under the premise that the closed-loop system is stable and the transition speed is acceptable.

It's means that the only one solution to reduce the TPS563201 light load current ripple is choose larger value LC? no other ways?

Yep, my customer since not concern the light load efficient, i will recommend them to use TPS563208.

In normal, it is the best way to make ripple small for Eco mode.
