TPS23861: Autonomous mode class selection

Hi,

We are designing a 4 port POE switch. We want to limit the power sourcing to 802.3af class 3.

Is it possible in autonomous mode or should it be configured over I2C from host

    Hi Akash,

    You will need to send I2C commands(disable 2-event classification in register 0x21) to limit the power to 15W for TPS23861. If you don't have host available in the system, TPS23882B1 is another option you can pre-configure the part to 15W class 3 through AUTO pin. Thanks.
