TPS61165: Analog dimming schematic

Part Number: TPS61165

Hi All,

I have a question about the TPS61165 analog dimming schematic.

SLVA471.pdf (How to Use Analog Dimming With the TPS6116x) Figure 1.

I couldn't understand the need for a D1 Zener diode. In what cases do you recommend this circuit?
In the case of analog dimming, open detection does not work, so do I need a D1 Zener diode?

I couldn't understand even if I looked at [4 Using a Zener Diode to Protect Against Open LED Condition].
Should I always attach a D1 Zener diode when performing analog dimming?

Best Regards,
