BQ24092:What are the charging requirements for the BQ24092DGQ?

Part Number: BQ24092

We are currently developing equipment using BQ24092DGQ.

The LED lights up at regular intervals by operating the CPU at a later stage while charging.

If the lighting cycle of the LED is shortened, the BQ24092DGQ will not complete charging.

(5s  37.5% lit→5s 2.5% lit)

Since ISET has a resistance of1.8K, we understand that the fast charge will be  300mA and the end-of-charge current willbe3 0  mA.

The current is less than3 0  mA even when charging is not detected.

However, since the LED is lit with PWM, the current is unstable.

If the LED lighting cycle is lengthened (25s  25% lit→5s  1% lit) the charge can be  detected.

Please let me know if there are conditions for charging completion.

Current, voltage, time, etc...

  • Hello Taei,

The device will terminate charge based on current leaving the OUT pin, in your case when OUT current < 30mA. For non-powerpath charger such as this the OUT current is shared between battery and load. If the load is too high termination may never be reached.

Can you share the schematic for review? You may also want to measure the OUT current in the two cases.

    Thanks,

    Nick
