MV AC-DC solution request

Hello team,

Please recommend a solution for AC-DC buck converter according to the diagram below:

- Vin = 24 VAC

- No isolation is required

- negative AC power supply wire is connected to GND

- space constraints (no headroom for large capacitors)

What the available solution can we propose for this application?

Thank you.

  • Hello Slava,

If you full-wave rectify the input voltage, then the most logical solution is to use a buck regulator.

I used Webench Designer assuming 24Vac with +/- 10% input and chose High Efficiency as a target.

    Webench returned 362 possible designs.

To narrow the results, I then chose 87% to 92% efficiency, and 700kHz to 1.3MHz switching frequency.  I then had 3 designs.

I then chose a design using the LM60440D because it had the highest efficiency (91.9%) and a 1MHz switching frequency.

I recommend trying Webench.  You can decide if you want lowest cost, smallest footprint, low or high switching frequency, etc.

    Regards,

    Eric
