TPS53317: TPS53317 Design

Part Number: TPS53317

Hi

I have two questions about tps53317.

   1. Can the PGOOD pin of tps53317 be suspended?

   2. The mode resistance is set to 68K, the design output current is 6a, and the maximum overcurrent point is 8.4a?

Thanks a lot.

  • Sam,

I have the following responses to your questions:

    1. Can the PGOOD pin of tps53317 be suspended? What exactly do you mean by suspended? If PGOOD functionality is not required for your design, this pin can be left floating if desired.
    2. The mode resistance is set to 68K, the design output current is 6a, and the maximum overcurrent point is 8.4a?Per Table 1 (shown below), setting the MODE resistance to 68k results in a valley OCL of 5.4A. For a larger valley OCL, use a 47k resistor instead of a 68k resistor for the same frequency with PWM. Note that the actual DC OCL is given by the below equation:

    Thanks,

  • What's the specifical functiond of PGOOD PIN?

  • Sam,

The PGOOD pin is deasserted under the following conditions:

    1. The EN pin is pulled low
    2. Undervoltage condition on V5IN
    3. The output voltage exceeds 120% of REFIN (OVP)
    4. The output voltage falls below 68% of REFIN (UVP)
    5. The output current exceeds the OCL setting (OCL)

Since the PGOOD output is open-drain, it requires a pullup resistor to another voltage source depending on the voltage of a logic high - typically this connection is made to V5IN.

    Thanks,

    Kadeem
