In-battery resistance

Hi team,

The customer would like to know how to accurately measure the internal resistance of the battery. Could yo help resolve this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hello Cherry,

    Our impedance track gauges do measure that automatically, and with a high level of precision. The best way to measure the internal resistance is similar to how our gauges do it. Measure the open-circuit, rested voltage on the battery, apply a constant current load to the battery, then measure the voltage under load. Then, you can use the equation:

    Vload = OCV - I*R

    We have measured Vload and OCV, and know current. Because of this, we can calculate the internal resistance of the battery using this method.
