Hello Mari,
Can you please post a picture of the top of one device? There are date codes and lot codes that will help confirm the identity of the part. Once I have the picture I will query our Quality team about the details of those parts and why the marking is different.
Regards,
Eric
The picture is a little blurry. First line is "LM5045". What is on the second line?
OK, sending this information to Quality/Manufacturing group for comment. It could take a few days for response. Thank you for your patience, Eric
Hi Mari,
I received feedback from our Quality group. Based on the Lot code (2nd line) that IC was produced back in 2012. According to the documentation back then it should've been marked "L5045". So they asked for a bit more information:
1) Can you provide a clear picture that is closer to the IC?
2) Where did you purchase this IC?
3) When did you purchase this IC?
Thanks,
Eric
Hi Eric,
Please help us on priority.
1) Can you provide a clear picture that is closer to the IC?
2) Where did you purchase this IC?
We purchased from online stockiest(AM SEMI TECH)
3) When did you purchase this IC?
We purchased on last week of October
Mari,
Thank you for the reply. I sent new picture and additional information to my Quality group. Will need a couple more days.
Regards,
Eric
Hello Mari,
Sorry for later response. QA person was sick.
Anyway, he had some interesting observations. The top side marking is incorrect for a part coming from TI. For example, the Lot Code does not conform to our standard. Also, as you noted, TI would've marked the part L5045, not LM5045. There is one other inconsistency that I cannot disclose as it would aid counterfeiters. So, we are quite sure this is a counterfeit part.
He checked the shipment history for LM5045 and does not see anything being shipped to AM SEMI.
If you supply the shipping information from the shipment box (labels on the tape and reels) we can investigate further.
