BQ25886: PCB LAYOUT OPTIMIZATION

Part Number: BQ25886

Good Morning,

I need some advice on the PCB layout of my design.

Here are a couple of screenshots of my schematics:

The battery is the main power supply of the system during operation. The USB will be connected only to recharge the battery.

System will draw max 1A peak current from the battery, through the battery charger, during operation.

VBUS input current is limited to ca.1.5A and the max charge current is limited to ca.0.7A.

Due to mechanical layout constraints, the USB connector and the battery connector have to be placed to the opposide sides of the PCB, which will have a length of 9cm.

The question about the PCB layout is the following: is it better to place the battery charger next to to the USB connector, thus having a short trace between them and long power trace from the battery connector to the battery charger, or viceversa? (battery charger next to the battery connector and long power trace from the USB connector to the battery charger)?

Also consider that a charger adapter of 10W power (5V, 2A) will be used as USB VBUS supply, with USB cable length of 1m. The cable which connects the battery pack to the battery connector will be shorter (15cm).

Thank you. Kind regards.
