BQ25720: PROCHOT for VSYS when low power mode

Part Number: BQ25720
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25710,

Hi Team,

We have a question for PROCHOT behavior when low power mode as blew datasheet shown.

This PROCHOT function is used to monitor system voltage whether VSYS is lower than specific value like a under voltage alert.

We need to use resistor divider for CMPIN to set normal VSYS is higher than 1.2V. But the #PROCHOT will be trigger from high to low when VSYS at normal voltage range.

Could you please help to comment this behavior? Thanks.

Also, I checked the BQ25710 datasheet for this #PROCHOT behavior. It does not include a NOT gate after independent comparator. Are BQ25720 and BQ25710 with same behavior?

Best regards,

Hardy

  • Hi Hardy,

You can use CMP_POL bit to decide how /PROCHOT react when it is above 1.2 V. When CMP_POL = '1', /PROCHOT will be high impedance (high) when CMPIN is above 1.2V.

The same applies for BQ25710 and you need to set CMP_POL = '1'.

Thanks and I hope this helps,

    Peng

  • Hi Peng,

    Thanks for your reply.

The 0x30[6] CMP_POL setting is for CMPOUT in datasheet. Do you mean that #PROCHOT and CMPOUT will have same behavior?

    Best regards,

    Hardy

  • Hi Hardy,

It will do the job if you use the CMP_POL bit. I have tested it before. You can try it on the EVM if you like.

Thanks and I hope this helps,

    Peng
