LM2576HV: Simulation error

Part Number: LM2576HV
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PSPICE-FOR-TI,

Hi Team,

Our customer tried to simulate the LM2576HVS-12 in PSpice-for-TI but can't measure an output voltage. I tried to simulate the device in Webench but the "Design cannot be created" error message appeared as shown in the screenshot below.

According to our customer,

I am currently trying to design a board which can take in a voltage between 22.2 and 44.4 VDC, and output 12 VDC. From what I can understand from the datasheet, the LM2576HVS-12 is capable of this. I have followed the schematic design from section 8.2.1 of the datasheet exactly, and am running a simulation through PSpice for TI. However, I am unable to measure an output of the requisite 12 VDC. Some assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What could be the cause of this error?

Danilo

  • Hello Danilo,

    I was able to generate the webench design for : LM2576HVSX-ADJ/NOPB 22V-44V to 12.00V @ 3A

Here is a link to the design. Let me know if you encounter any issues

  • Hi Marshall,

Thank you for sending the simulation file in Webench. It seems that the error in the Webench simulation is the part number which should be LM2576HVSX-ADJNOPB. Is this the same error with the PSpice-for-TI simulation?

    Regards,

    Danilo

  • Hello Danilo,

It does not appear (to me) that webench is available for the fixed 12Vout orderable (LM2576HVS-12 ). I just went and made a design off the product folder.

I am going to confirm, and if I am mistaken, I will go ahead and provide you with the webench link or see if we can activate the LM2576HVS-12 webench.

Looking at the Webench design I provided, as well the product datasheet, the corresponding component selection should be satisfactory for either OPN (excluding the voltage divider for LM2576HVS-12).

If the customer is looking to utilize PSPICE for additional transient waveform for which Webench does not provide, I recommend first having them compile and running the proven-out model (below), then adapting the model components to the ones provided by webench. It does look like we only have the LM2576HV PSPICE model available (not fixed 12Vout), so if they elect to use PSPICE they will need to add the FB divider.

  • Whoops, didnt realize that there was a scroll down bar on the webench results.

Here is a webench design for 12V fixed orderable. My apologies.
