Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS543820
Dear Sir/Madam,
Due to supply issues can I use TPS543820RPYR (8A) in place of TPS543620RPYR (6A) without changing external components designed for the 6A part like inductor etc.

Hi Joe,
Yes. There is either no external component change, or it is going to be just one resistor change.
You may need to adjust the level of over current protection.
In TPS543620:
In TPS543820:
Based on your current setting, you may need to adjust Rmode.
What is your max output current?
What is your Rmode value?

Dear Yitzhak,
Thank you for the reply.
I have a couple of 6A parts. One is shown below.
12V to 2V5 @ 4A.

Hi Joe,
For this design for example you should replace the Rmode of 4.87KOhms that sets the current limit to high, when using TPS543620:
with Rmode of 60.4KOhms when using TPS543820:
As the low current limit levels on TPS543820 are similar to high current limits on TPS543620.
Hope this makes sense. If this addresses you concern, please set the status of this post to resolved.
