TPS6594-Q1: Safe recovery counter condition

Dear experts

We have facing an condition that the device often got into the Safe recovery. So there have some condition need to have a confirm.

1. How long the time interval is when the device have a error to add the recovery counter?

2. If the device continue over temperature, or continue UV, how much time it takes to add the recovery counter from 0 to 15?

3. If the error removed, the device will have BOOT BIST test, some time we are facing LBIST and ABIST error, but there do not have too much details about which kind of parameters have been checked, so is there some more details about the BIST test parameters?

Hello Jun,

1. Depending on the error that causes the device to enter safe recovery, recovery attempts will be 15-20 ms apart.

2. Over temperature and UV are not the same type of error/faults. The device will only make recovery attempts if die temperature is less than Twarn level. If UV is on one of the rails or VCCA (but VCCA is above UVLO), it should take about 300ms or less.

3. ABIST covers the voltage monitors, their PG windows, current monitoring, die temp check. LBIST runs through digital checks of things such as GPIO levels/edges, ESM, and internal clocks. To debug exactly which error caused the device to go to safe recovery, the interrupt registers can be read even when device is in safe recover mode.

Is the recovery time interval adjustable? if it is adjustable, it would be great helpful for customer to avoid PMIC locking due to recov_cnt exceed.
