LM74700-Q1: Enable function

Part Number: LM74700-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5050-1, LM74500-Q1,

Hello.

Is there any way that keeping external MOSFET on as needed while anode < cathode in voltage?

Is EN pin valid for this case?

I've read the other thread below for reference.

- LM5050-1: Disabling LM5050 reverse current protection

  • Hi Kunihiro,

You can consider using LM74500-Q1. This device is the same as LM74700-Q1 minus the reverse current blocking functionality.

So, while using LM74500-Q1, the Gate would be high even when Anode > Cathode.

  • Hi Praveen,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I would like to use an ideal diode(ORing controller) like LM5050 plus enable function.

LM74500 doesn't have cathode pin. How come LM74500 can detect anode < cathode in voltage?

  • Hi Kunihiro,

As LM74500-Q1 does not have reverse current blocking functionality, it does not need the Cathode voltage information. Hence, there is no need of Cathode pin. Irrespective of the Cathode voltage, the Gate voltage would be high as long as the Anode voltage is +ve.

LM74500-Q1 does have EN pin which can be used to Turn ON/OFF the Gate.
