TLC5927-Q1: error register reading compatibility with TLC5926-Q1

Team,

is a firmware written for TLC5926(-Q1) going to be compatible with TLS5927-Q1. I guess it boils down to : does the addition short to vled detection capability adds 1 bit per channel to the register, or is this bit already there in the TLC5926 but to be ignored ?

Hi Mellin,

Sorry that we do not have a reference firmware for this device. As for the additional short-to VLED detection, the results is combining with open detection. At special mode, the error status codes can be latched to shift register. 1 is normal while 0 is error detected. But it cannot be distinguished which error is detected.

Hello, can you please confirm that for TLC5926 as 5927 the error register has just 1 error bit per channel ? this explains why you cannot know what error actually happened. please confirm

Hi Mellin,

Yes you are right. The error status code is 16-bit long and only one bit for each channel. The error types cannot be distinguished.
