TPS53015: TPS53015DGS

Dear Alec ,

Due to stock availability can I use this part 

TPS40050QPWPRQ1 alternate to TPS53015DGS ?

and whether the alternate part is compatible with CSD87350Q5D FET.

please give your comment for this alternate part.

I'm using this sheet SYNC-BUCK-FET-LOSS-CALC_Rev1 from TI website to calculate power losses if the alternate part (

TPS40050QPWPRQ1) suits. 

kindly give the below that was not given in the datasheet of 

TPS40050QPWPRQ1.

The TPS40050QPWPRQ1 is a controller that may also work in your application. Regarding the parameters for the calculator,

1. For the "pick inductor" item, please select the inductance value used in your design

2. For the " T<= 125C item", please use the ambient temperature at which you intend to operate the TPS40050

Please allow me to see if I may find the information specific to the MOSFET drivers and dead-times. I believe the values you currently have are suitable in terms of selecting a power stage MOSFET.

I'm going to use this part in new design TPS40050QPWPRQ1. please let me know whether the part will be active for next 5 years.

While I would expect the TPS40050QPWPRQ1 to be available for the next 5 years, I cannot make that guarantee as I have no control over that decision.

In  datasheet of TPS40050QPWPRQ1  

there has mentioned that pin provides greater than 9V .But in the FET side CSD87350Q5D 

Gate drive voltage should lies between 4.5V to 8V. hence , how you are saying that these two parts are compatible . please let me know.

As you recommended  a part LM3150MHX/NOPB is that compatible with CSD87350Q5D FET. Kindly give the raising and falling dead-times for these part LM3150MHX/NOPB  here. Please let me know how to verify its compatibility.

You are correct in that the gate-drive voltage of the CSD87350Q5D is not compatible with an input voltage of 20V. For an input voltage between 8-10V, this would be acceptable since the TPS40050 uses the BP10 as its gate drive.

As you mentioned, the LM3150 is compatible with the CSD87350Q5D across the entire input range since its VCC/gate-drive voltage is regulated to 5.95V (well within the range of 4.5V-8V for the CSD87350Q5D). The LM3150 datasheet does not publish dead-times. However, the datasheet provides guidance that the minimum off-time.

Based on the datasheet guidance, I would design to accommodate turn-off/turn-on delays of 100ns per transition in the worst case.
