TPS62203: Operation of device with Vin between 2.5V and 3.6V

Part Number: TPS62203

Hi,

I understand the TPS62203 device requires an input voltage of 3.6V to 6V to generate a regulated output voltage of 3.3V with an output current between 0 and 300mA.

With an input voltage between 2.5V and 3.6V what will be the output voltage for this device e.g.

If Vin = 2.7V and Iout = 1mA to 50mA, will the PMOS pass transistor be switched fully on for this example, so Vout = Vin i.e. 2.7V?

  • Hi Yemi,

For the case where you have the target VOUT set equal to VIN or greater than VIN, the device will operate in 100% mode. The PMOS is fully turned on here. The actual VOUT you get depends on the VIN, load current, DC resistance of the inductor and RDSON of the PMOS. You can input these values into the equation in section 7.3.4 of the datasheet TPS62203 to check the VOUT, at those conditions.

    Best regards,
