BQ76940: Static electricity discharging issue

Part Number: BQ76940
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76200

Hi team,

Here's an issue from the customer may need your help:

The device will stuck when discharging static + 4 kV, and it will resume normal when resetting MCU. The customer would like to know what' the reason for that. Could you help check this? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hello Cherry,

Could you describe what issue exactly is the customer is seeing when the device is "stuck" ?

Usually with ESD you want to keep the current from it away from the electronics that can be sensitive to large transients.

Sharing their schematic would be helpful.

  • Hello Luis,

Could you describe what issue exactly is the customer is seeing when the device is "stuck" ?

IIC still has communication, 3.3V supply has no output. The 12-string sample voltage on the upper computer is 16 mV,  all 3 temperature samples are -30°C. Restart the power supply, it can work normally.

Sharing their schematic would be helpful.

The schematic is similar to the 8.2's of BQ76200.

    Thanks and regards,

    Cherry
