BQ25792: USB Charging Connection

Part Number: BQ25792

i want to use a micro usb to charge the lithium ion batteries.

I'm unsure if there's any changes that I should make.

X9 = Power Batteries

X7 = Thermistor

I want to output 5V and input voltage from the batteries will be 7.2V. i have (4) 3.7V batteries (2 in series and 2 in parallels)

  • Hi Vishal,

    REGN cap needs to be at least 4.7 uF , 16V rated. If you are connecting to legacy USB ports for input power in forward/charge mode, then I recommend connecting the port’s DpDm lines to the IC pins.  The IC clamps the input current to value set by the ILIM_HIZ resistor divider.

     Please following the  layout shown in d/s section 12 or the BQ25792EVM closely, esp the PMID and SYS capacitor placement, because the charger is very sensitive to switching noise

    Regarding wanting 5V output, the charger’s SYS is the higher of the SYSMIN setting or batter voltage.  So you will need a dc/dc converter following the SYS to get 5V.

    Regards,

    Jeff
