How many DIMMs of DDR memory can a single TPS51200 support? What other applications can this part be used for?
The number of DIMMs that a single device can support depends on the current requirements of each DIMM. This information should be provided on the datasheet for the individual DIMMs. For more information on determining termination current, see this source: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slua886a/slua886a.pdf?
The TPS51200 family of devices are ideal for VTT applications in DDR-DDR4 systems. However, they can be used for any other application where a 2A-3A LDO is necessary. The added bonus of using these devices is that they are capable of both sinking and sourcing current, making them perfect for DDR VTT applications.
