BQ34Z100-G1: the target bqz container is old and needs to be updated - wt to do to solve this error

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

I am using DLG NCM 18650 2500mah 3.6 V battery for a battery pack of 3S8P 12v 20Ah. I am intend to use BQ34z100-G1. when i was about to fix chemistry configuration i used 0204 id as nearest chemistry model. after i clicked to programm I am getting the following error " the target bqz container is old and needs to be updated" i dont understand wt to do. kindly help me to sort it out.

second, I have DC programmable load of ET5410 along with company given charger of 12v 8A. now suggest me how to set charging and discharging profile to obtain learning curve. all this I am trying to do is want to log SOC % , Voltage and current during both charging and discharging. kindly suggest me the methodlogy to do the same. Thank you every one

  • Hello Kameswara,

That error message will sometimes trigger under certain circumstances, but usually doesn't cause any harm. There are some threads in the similar topics section that had the same issue. Can you read your CHEMID and Ra table to see if it updated anyways? There is a good chance the CHEMID programmed successfully despite the warning. If not, let me know and we can investigate further.

As for the learning cycle, I have attached a document that walks through all the steps. I find this document to be fairly comprehensive, but feel free to reply again if you have any more specific questions about it.

    thanks,

  • HI Sir,

thanks for document. If i want to simply monitor and log the paramerters like SOC, charging profile of the battery pack and dicharging profile of the battery pack, is it required to have learning cycle or we can simply use it measure and log the parameters. Because.

  • Hello Kameswara,

The gauge can report out voltage and current without needing to run the learning cycle. Current may need to be calibrated depending on your sense resistor but that is a simple and quick process. However, SOC% will be lacking accuracy without running the learning cycle. You could give it a try and see if the SOC is accurate enough for whatever purposes you need it for.

    thanks,
