BQ34Z100-G1: Min Taper Capacity parameter

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO,

Hello Team,

I have a question regarding the Min Taper Capacity parameter on the BQ34Z100-G1 part. The application note for configuring the component (SLUA664) states that the default is 0.25mAh. However, in the bqStudio program, its default is actually 25mAh. See the images below for details on what I am talking about. The bqStudio program does not allow me to set the Min Taper Capacity Value to less than 1mAh, i.e. a decimal value. The application note acts as if I should be able to set that, but the bqStudio program does not allow that. Is there something I am missing? Is the unit in the bqStudio program supposed to show uAmpHr instead of mAmpHr? Could you clarify this for me?

Thanks!

Connor

  • Hello Connor,

We actually compare this value with an internal counter, that's why it doesn't quite match the TRM. Here is the check:

If the taper charge (in units of 256mAh) is greater than Minimum Taper Charge, then we consider it a pass.

The taper charge is calculated based on the current taper window (charge accumulated in this period).

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
