BQ40Z80: How to create a new CHEM_ID

Part Number: BQ40Z80
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCHEM

Hi, team.

Would you let me know how to create a new CHEM_ID without sending the cell samples to TI?

  • Hello Yukinari,

A large majority of the time we do not need to run a new battery to generate a chem ID, since we use the GPCCHEM tool. If there is no match with the GPCCHEM tool then we can discuss running the batteries for a new chem ID.

If you have already run the GPCCHEM, can you share the report and data submitted?

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi, Wyatt

I'm having trouble selecting the nearest CHEM_ID. I cannot get the nearest CHEM_ID due to error message. Please kindly help, I will send you the report and data.

The data is submitted in ZIP file as you specified.

    Regards,

    Yukinari

  • Hello Yukinari,

What chemistry are you using for your battery? There voltages are very low at full charge and the terminate voltage is also much lower than most Li-Ion batteries. This is most likely why you are not getting and matches with your battery.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt

I have a battery that uses lithium titanate as the anode and the voltage is low.
Is it possible to find a corresponding ID by increasing the end-of-discharge voltage a little?
I would like to be able to use it even on a temporary basis, so please advise me.

As a side note, I have already performed the learning cycle using the CHEM_ID of Toshiba battery that uses lithium titanate, but without success.

    Best regards

    yuki

  • Hello Yuki,

You will not be able to complete the learning cycle without the chem ID programmed, we use the chem ID during the learning process.

I would recommend using one of the CEDV gauges until the Impedance Track algorithm as a larger database of LTO batteries, since this is a newer chemistry and lower voltage we rarely support it.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Wyatt

Thank you for the suggestion. I will consider it.
By the way, what procedure do I need to follow to register a new CHEM_ID?
Can you register new CHEM_ID for our original battery by sending you the battery characteristic data under defined conditions?

if so, please let me know the detail steps to submit the correct data.

    Regards,

    Sato

  • Hello Sato,

For us to generate the chem ID we will need to have batteries shipped to us for data collection.

Send me a friend request and PM if you would like to discuss further.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt

I have sent you the friend request, but what is meant by “PM”?

    Best regards

    Sato

  • Hello Sato,

    It means Private Message.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
