BQ2962: How to use OutPin

Part Number: BQ2962

Hi , I would luike to use  BQ296213  https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/bq2962.pdf?ts=1645527510539&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252FBQ2962 , Can I Use a P- Channel FET / N- Channel FET,without use of FUSE. If yes, can you please explain how?

  • Hello Mounish,

It should be possible. How exactly this is done would be up to you, you would want a FET that is always on unless the an OV condition is met. A PFET could be used if it's pulled to Vss once the OV protection is triggered.

The OUT output of the IC would be high once triggered, so you would not be able to use a simple NFET for this. The signal would have to be inverted to pull the PFET down.

We have not tested this type of configuration and cannot say exactly how it will work. The IC was intended to be used to pull down a FUSE.

    Best Regards,
