DRV103: Problem using DRV103 as a Motor Driver.

We have been using the DRV101 IC as a motor driver and also to control solenoids.  We switched to the DRV103H since the DRV101 is end of life. The DRV103 controls the solenoids fine, but when using one to drive the pump motor, it immediately throws the overcurrent flag and can barely drive the motor. We do have a high speed flyback diode across the motor lines. The motor is rated at 0.8A, whereas the DRV103 can drive up to 3A according to the datasheet.  Is the DRV103H not capable of driving a motor like the DRV101 was?

    Which package are you using? Do you have a current waveform on the input?

    Could there be potential inrush currents here that are causing the current limit to trigger? Are there significant cable lengths? Also- are you using a discrete load or an eLoad?

    The DRV103 is >20 years old so support/resources relating to the part are somewhat limited. It is recommended to change to a dedicated motor driver in order to access more available resources:
