LM5000: The reference design is different between Webench and Datasheet

Part Number: LM5000

Hi Experts,

The reference design of LM5000, that the inductance is large different between Webench and datasheet.

Please refer to the below schematic.

May I know the reason of difference?

Generally, which one is the better design? pros and cons?

BR,

Thanks

  • Hi Aaron,

inductor selection mainly depends on the duty cycle and also the operation mode CCM or DCM.

With the 33uH the DCM mode is used for higher input voltages but this of course brings higher ripple current for the inductor.

Whereas with 339uH the CCM mode will be used for the full voltage range.

With this low output current also DCM mode would be a good option.

    See also datasheet:

    Best regards,

  • Hi Aaron,

I have not seen an update on this thread for the last 20 days.
So I assume the issue is solved.
In this case it would be great to press the is solved button.

If there is still something open, just let me know with the new details.

    Best regards,
