BQ4050 drives 3 LEDs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ4050

Hi, expert

1. Use BQ4050 chip to drive red, yellow and green LED lights.

2. When charging, Red LED Solid, when fully charged, Green LED Solid.

3. The DISP pin of BQ4050 is connected to VSS through a switch, the switch is open to connect VSS, the switch is disconnected, and VSS is not connected.

4. When the battery is not charging, turn on the switch, SOC is 0~15%, Red LED Solid; SOC is 15~80%, Yellow LED Solid; SOC is 80~100, Green LED Solid.

Can the BQ4050 chip perform the above functions?

  • Hello Scofield,

The gauge can report out the SOC in different formats, I would recommend reviewing the TRM for the options we have. I don't believe there is a setting for the exact operation you have described. Usually we report directly from the SOC in increments, so at 80% or above all LEDs will be on, 15%-80% red and yellow, and less than 15% only the red.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
