Hello,
- We would like to use the BQ25606 without a thermistor, can we do this?
- We would like to disable D+/D- detection, how can we do this?
Thank you and regards,
Alfred

Hello,
Thank you and regards,
Alfred
Hi Alfred,
1) Yes the device can operate without a thermistor. You can simply remove the NTC so that you have a voltage divider circuit using RT1 and RT2. Size RT1 and RT2 so that the voltage observed at TS is between 45.7% and 66.8% of REGN pin voltage. (V_REGN typically 5V) If the voltage at TS is outside of said range the device will operate according to hot/cold battery protections instead of normal charge conditions.
2) There is not a way to disable D+/D- detection, but if you leave the D+/D- pins floating the IC will detect unknown adapter and the input current limit is then set by the ILIM pin to any desired current between 500mA and 3.2A.

Thank you kindly, Garrett! This definitely resolved my issue. However, I forgot to ask whether you could also recommend an appropriate diode for VBUS please? We didn't see any recommendation details for this in the datasheet.
Hi Alfred,
The device is able to function without a diode at the input, but if you choose to use one the IC's EVM user guide linked here: sluubl3a - bq25606 EVM userguide recommends the PTVS13VS1UR,115 by NXP Semiconductor for transient voltage suppression.
