[FAQ] BQ76952EVM: Why is my BQ769x2 device unable to connect with BQStudio?

Part Number: BQ76952EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, , BQ76952, EV2400

When I connect my BQ76952EVM to my PC, BQStudio is not automatically detecting the device. What are common reasons for this?

  • First, make sure to follow all of the steps in the Quick Start section of the EVM User Guide: https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sluuc33

    • A power supply should be connected between BAT+ and BAT- terminals of the EVM to power the device.
    • The USB cable should be connected from the micro-USB connector on the EVM to the PC. When this is connected, three green LEDs should light up.
    • Check the BQStudio Dashboard on the left side of the BQStudio window. This will indicate whether the on-board microcontroller is connected (EV2400) and which firmware version it is using. It will also indicate whether the BQ76952 device is communicating successfully.
    • Also make sure no other EV2400 modules are connected to the PC. If so, there should be a separate BQStudio window opened for each EV2400 module.

For newer devices, it is necessary to download the latest version of BQStudio, which is the BQSTUDIO-TEST version. This way, it will be sure to include the latest products. This is the most common reason for BQStudio not automatically recognizing the device. https://www.ti.com/tool/BQSTUDIO
