BQ40Z50: portable charger issue

Part Number: BQ40Z50

Hi team,

Here's an issue from the customer may need your help:

The portable charger cannot be fully charged. The charge protection chip is the bq40z50, which when charged to 52%, the charge current falls cliff to 0 power and shows the charge overcurrent code while discharging while charging.

But if it even cannot be fully charged, how can it be overcurrent? Please see the images below:

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

Best Regards,

Cherry

  • Hello Cherry,

bq40z50 has 2 independent overcurrent in charge settings. See "Protections" OCC1 and OCC2 in data memory. Check if the current exceeded any of those. Make sure to read the correct flags for the setting that is applcable or set both to the same values if using just 1 condition..
