EM1402EVM: Battery set-up 28V

Part Number: EM1402EVM

Hello,

We want to use the EM1402 for a battery pack application. We have a few questions on the set-up:

On the 12V_RMT:

The battery in my application is 28.4VDC. It is configured with 8 cells at 3.55VDC connected in series.

  1. Is there a reason why I won’t be able to connect my battery positive to 12V_RMT other than the voltage rating on the window comparator (U5)? Is there an issue connecting 28VDC to primary side of T1?
  2. Or do I need to convert the 28VDC to 12VDC to be able to use this scheme?
  3. Or can I use half of my battery voltage?

Just to make sure I understand this correctly, the GPIO5 labeled “RS_EMB1428” has to go low to enable active balancing by turning off Q46?

Thank you and best regards,

Ambroise
