TPS22810: maximum continuous current

The data sheet says the maximum continuous current is 2A. Does this mean that the output voltage will not drop until 2A?

Hello Toriyama-san,

The maximum continuous current rating is based on stress testing and temperature ratings of the device, not a voltage drop. During turn on the voltage can dip during inrush if you have a weak supply or not enough input capacitance to make up for a weak supply.

Does it mean that whether or not a voltage drop occurs when a load is connected depends on the performance of the input power supply, not the performance of TPS 22810?

Hello Toriyama-san,

That is correct. The device controls the slew rate, but if there is a large inrush current the voltage from the supply may drop during turn on to account for it.
