LM66100: Use 2 chip in parallel

Hi,

Is it ok to use 2 chips in parallel to double the current handling capacity? If not, do you have other chip to recommend? The specs are: Input voltage 1.5-5.5V, output current >= 2A, an output to turn on another path when this chip blocks the output.

Hi Ben,

Would LM66200 work for your application? It is like two LM66100s in one package and is built for 2.5A DC.

Hi Shreyas,

2 problems with LM66200. Minimum input 1.6V >1.5V. Not sure what happens if Vin2=Vin1 or Vin2=0v in case for an application of reverse current blocking? There may be an external voltage on pin VOUT.

Hi Ben,

The device will only output one input at a given time. If you want to set a prioirity, you can use the sister device TPS2116 which is rated the same but is a PowerMUX.

Both devices have inbuilt reverse current blocking and channel to channel conduction prevention. These devices are built to take two different power sources and supply one output.

Unfortunately, we do not have a PowerMux that can support 1.5V but it may be possible to use two load switches like TPS22953 to build a muxing application.

Hi Shreyas,

My project is to block reverse current, not about muxing sources. It seems TI does not offer a LM66100-like ideal diode which can handle current >= 2A.

We only have LM66100 with the small form factor and integrated FET you are looking for at this time.
