PTH04070W: Review

Part Number: PTH04070W
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS82085, TPSM82813, TPSM82823

Hi Team,

The customer is asking your opinion about the design below. This use PTH04070 to convert 5 V to 1 V. Please see the schematic below and see if it's okay or not.
Any comment on the output capacitors? the Voadjust resistor is set to 84.5 k as mentioned in datasheet.

Can you check the schematic below?

Thank you

Regards,

Marvin

  • Hi Marvin,

All the external components look fine.

However, you cannot tie the inhibit pin to Vin (5V). It should not be tied to a voltage higher than Vin either. There is a footnote (#3) on page 3 that explains this. Please drive the inhibit pin with an open drain control circuit.

In addition, these are very old devices and we do not recommend them anymore. There are many newer 3A power modules that offer better performance, size, and cost.  TPSM82823 is the latest one.  As well, there is TPSM82813 and TPS82085.

    Regards,
