TPS789: Bypass Capacitor

Hi,

Good Day.

TPS78930DBVT, TPS78930DBVR

Can you please help our customer to confirm if BYPASS capacitor can be optional?

Customer PCBA currently is NC (Not Connected), so he want to know if he can use it as a replacement alternative of TPS76930DBVT. He need pinout match.

Please help him with that option but Bypass capacitor.

    Hi Ray,

    The BYPASS capacitor for this part is the same as what we would call in more modern devices an NR/SS (noise reduction/soft start) capacitor, and it is optional in regards to device stability. However, note that the specification for noise uses a 10nF BYPASS capacitor, so the noise performance will be worse than the datasheet specification with no BYPASS capacitor.
