BQ76952: Charger detection functionality

Part Number: BQ76952

Hi, my circuit based on bq76952 is working well but now instead of FETs, I would like to use a contactor/Relay. Following are my questions

1. Is using relay possible..?, If yes one or two are required?

2. My plan is simple, based on OV or UV fault I will turn off the relay. But How do I detect load/charger? following layout enough for such functionality?

3. If all above is not possible please suggest me, how to use relay

  • Hi Mounish,

The BQ76952 is designed to be very flexible, so this should be possible. From your image the MCU will control the relay which should be okay. You MCU will need to read the Pack and LD voltages which are available from the BQ76952 and will need to make decisions for when the relay should be open or closed.

So the BQ76952 will primarily provide measurements to the MCU and the MCU will decide when to open/close the relay.

    Best regards,

    Matt
