BQ34Z100-G1: Battery Monitors & Balancers

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCHEM, GPCCEDV

Hi ,

Dose anyone suggest Battery fuel gauges and balance IC for sodium-ion battery application?

The TI current application only related to Li-ion, LiFePO4, PbA, NiMH, and NiCd type.

  • Hello Sam,

We don't directly support that chemistry with our battery gauges. Impedance Track will not work with this battery type since the voltage curve is very different than most Li-Ion batteries, so the GPCCHEM tool will not find a match. Also the CEDV gauges may not work either as the terminate voltage is much lower and the voltage curve is very dynamic the GPCCEDV tool would not calculate reliable parameters for compensation.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt,

Thank for your reply, Do TI add Chemistry ID or new part of fuel gauges in the future?

And which cell balance IC of TI  you suggest if use in 14~16 series cell?

    Sincerely,

    Sam

  • Hello Sam,

We do characterize new batteries often, but I don't think this chemistry will work well with the algorithm and it is not currently supported.

You can look into our battery monitors which can do cell balancing on larger cell counts. If you have questions on a specific monitor I would make a new thread with the monitor part number so the monitor team can help answer.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
