BQ4050: TI BQ4050 Gauge IC and TI BQ25710 Charge IC

Part Number: BQ4050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25710,

Hi,

Good Day. I have a customer who is working with TI BQ4050 Gauge IC and TI BQ25710 Charge IC. Please see below his query for your reference. Thank you very much.

On a prototype I'm working on, I'm using the TI BQ4050 Gauge IC and the TI BQ25710 Charge IC to monitor my battery pack.

I've found something that I don't know if it is a weird issue that is happening, or if I didn't set something up right. The issue I'm finding is that when I disable the FET on the 4050, then disconnect power, then reconnect power and enable the FET, all the registers in the 25710 charge IC reset to default. I'm not sure why this is happening.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hello Ray Vincent,

I think this may be a charger question for setup of the charger registers. Can you explain the system further? Do they have a host MCU? How are they configuring the charger registers?

I believe all the chargers use RAM and ROM to populate the RAM to default registers at reset or loss of power. This should be normal behavior. The host should update the specific registers after a reset if needed.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
