UCC28701: Transformer specification

Hi Team,

The Webench design of UCC28701DBVR provides the details of the transformer winding. Under the auxiliary winding, it states the strands 2.0. Our customer would like to know what does strands 2.0 mean. Are they two 28 AWG solid wire wound in parallel?

Hello Danilo,

Yes, in the Webench transformer details, "Strands 2.0" refers to two 28AWG wires wound in parallel. Multi-stranded windings are often used to spread turns out more evenly across a coilformer for better coupling to the other windings. Also, lower AC resistance is often obtained this way.
