UCC28070: ucc28070

Part Number: UCC28070

I already asked what is the maximum output power possible.

I understand your answer that it depends on external power components and magnetics.

I am copying the below statement from data sheet (page 21):

The output of the voltage-error amplifier (VVAO) is clamped at 5 V, which represents the maximum PFC output
power. This value is used to calculate the maximum reference current at the IMO pin, and sets a limit for the
maximum input power allowed (and, as a consequence, limits maximum output power).

It looks like maximum voltage of VAO limit the output power.

I asked what is the maximum output power possible with respect to above statement.

Kindly clarify.

  • Hi Chandran,

The maximum power is not an absolute value, rather it's relative to your selection of current sense resistor, multiplier resistor, boost inductor and CT turns ratio (and other factors as well).

You may get a better perspective on this by doing a rough design using design tool calculator as well as following section 8.2.1 of the datasheet.  You'll be able to see how component values scale around the desired power levels and key component choices.

    I hope this helps.
