TPS61026: How much is the variation range of TPS61026 Isw (Switch current limit) at -10 degree C and +60 degree C?

Part Number: TPS61026
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61023, TPS61022

Hello guys,

One of my customers is evaluating TPS61026 for their new products.
At this moment, they have the following question. Could you please give me your reply for them?

Q. TPS61026 datasheet says that Switch current limit (Isw) variation range is 1500mA ~ 2100mA at -40 degree C ~+125 degree C range.
They want to know how much the variation range of TPS61026 Isw (Switch current limit) is when Tj is -10 degree C and +60 degree C.
Do you have any data? Just reference data is OK and it is not needed to be guarantee data.

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Best regards,

Kazuya.

  • Hi Sir,

May you please help share with their input, output voltage and output current requirements? If they want lower current limit, maybe I could recommend a more appropariate one? I just want to double check with you for background before we engaging with ATE data. This part is an old part and I am not sure if we have data. Especially for this specific temp range.

  • Hi Wenhao,

Thank you very much for your reply.

    Their conditions are the follows.
    Vin=3.0V, Vo=5.0V(TPS61026 is 5V output fixed version), Io=0.7A(Typ)/1.4A(Max).

Also the reason they use this part is that they are already using it in other products and are in stock.
Also because the lead time of new devices is long.

Your reply would be much appreciated.

Thank you again and best regards,

    Kazuya.

  • Hi Sir,

I am afraid TPS61026 cannot support this. Please kindly check below application brief for how much output current it could support.

    https://www.ti.com.cn/cn/lit/pdf/slvafc4

The maximum output current under worst case, for 3.0Vin, 5.0Vout is about 700mA. If customer wants to have 1.4A output, they need to consider a higher current converter. Let me check it internally and give you feedback later tomorrow.

  • Hi Sir,

TPS61023 is currently a good choice, but it is still under stringent supply. Maybe TPS61022 can be a choice, but its sepc is overkilled.

  • Hi Wenhao,

Thank you very much for the recommendation.

    I will introduce TPS61023 first.

By the way, their original question was whether TI has any data TPS61026 Isw (Switch current limit) variation range of in case that Tj=-10 degree C and +60 degree C.

Do you know whether TI has the data or not?

Thank you again and best regards,

    Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya.

We cannot find any ATE data to support this kindly temp range, but since customer's condition is already over TPS61026's capability, they should aware the input current limit can be triggered in their heavier load.

  • Hi Wenhao,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Your replies are very helpful for the customer and me.

Thank you again and best regards,

    Kazuya.
