Hi team,

AM335x PMIC (TPS65910A) has functionality which enables to start PMIC automatically when power-up without toggling soft switch (VMBHI_IT_MSK=0).

My customer would like to implement similar functionality to AM64x PMICs (TPS6521855+ LP873345).
Do you have any idea or solution to realize this functionality with AM64x PMICs?
My customer desires software configurable solution as well as TPS65910A.

Thank You for using E2E! Just to make sure I understand the question in the previous message, the customer wants the PMIC to be automatically enabled when the supply is connected? If that is the case, then they can just connect the PWR_EN pin of the TPS6521855 to the power good of the pre-regulator that is supplying the PMIC.

I also wanted to highlight that our current 2-PMIC solution to power the AM64x processor includes TPS6521855 + LP873364. The technical documentation listed below have more details about the connections and device settings.

But my customer persists to software configurable solution like TPS65910A.

Do you have any idea?

Hi Itoh,

TPS6521855 and TPS65910A are two different PMICs. For TPS6521855, it will require customers to toggle the enable pin. Once the PMIC is in active state, customers can use the ENABLE1 / ENABLE2 registers to manually enable or disable the rails.

Hi Brenda-san,

OK, understand.

My customer decided to add DIP switch to control PWR_EN.

My customer commented they could save the service and extra component cost if it has the software configurable automatic power-on enable.

Hi Itoh,

Thanks for letting us know about the customer feedback regarding the enable/disable function of this PMIC. Just for your reference, more details about how the power-up sequence can be executed from different states can be found in the "Power-Up Sequencing" section of the datasheet. The "Mode of Operation Diagram" also shows the different conditions that can make the PMIC to transition from one state to the other.
