TPS22965: Vin→Vbias→EN Device Power-Up Sequencing

Part Number: TPS22965

The ABSOLUTE MAX value for VIN and VBIAS is 6V.
But in the Recommended Conditions, VIN's "MAX" is VBIAS.

I believe this comes from "10.1.4 VIN and VBIAS Voltage Range" in the Datasheet, where Rds(on) gets significantly worse if VIN is > VBIAS (such as when device is powered with VIN first)

But for device power-up where EN is toggled last after VIN and VBIAS are both brought up, this should be fine, right?
*In the end, VIN < VBIAS; but VIN is powered first. EN is not toggled until after VIN and VBIAS are both up.

Darren

  • Hello Darren,

We do not recommend Vbias < Vin when the output is enabled. Powering with Vin first, then Vbias while EN is low is fine; however, if EN is toggled while Vbias < Vin and Vbias doesn't rise to Vin before the duration of Ton then datasheet specifications are not guaranteed.
