BQ79616-Q1: BQ79616 OT register settings

Part Number: BQ79616-Q1

From the SLUSE81C document, does UT_THR = b111 mean 66% TSREF?

If OT_THR= b00000, is this 39% TSREF?

Based on this assumption, an OT threshold of 16% TSREF and UT threshold of 80% TSREF will be 0x17. Please confirm.

If OTCB_THR = b1111 is this 24% TSREF

If COOL_OFF = b000, is this 14% TSREF?

Based on this understanding, OTCB_THR = b1101 is 20% TSREF

if COOL_OFF = b101, this is 4% TSREF. Please confirm.

Thanks

  • Hello Priya,

    Yeah our documentation isn't as clear as it could be on this. Hope this helps:

    UT defaults to b111 or 80%. OT defaults to b0000 or 39% TSREF. For UT at 80% and OT at 16% TSREF I have b111, b00110

    For cooloff, b101 (and b110, b111) is 14% TSREF and b000 is 4% TSREF.

  • Hi Priya.

    1)

    UT_THR = b111 means 80% TSREF.

    OT_THR = b00000 means 10% TSREF.

    Based on this OT = 16% and UT = 80% will be 0xE6.

    2)

    OTCB_THR combinations b0111 - b1111 are all 24% TSREF

    Yes, COOL_OFF = b000 is 14% TSREF

    20% OTCB_THR will be  b0101

    4% COOL_OFF will be b000

    Regards,

    Viktor.

  • Thank you for your replies. There is a need for a revised datasheet to make this information clear.

  • Actually the two answers are different.

    The first answer says OT defaults to b0000 or 39% TSREF; second says OT_THR = b00000 means 10% TSREF.

    Same for the COOL_OFF. First answer For cooloff, b101 (and b110, b111) is 14% TSREF and b000 is 4% TSREF.

    Second answer Yes, COOL_OFF = b000 is 14% TSREF

    I will have to try the firmware and confirm. Hopefully the OT faults go away. Please confirm the correct thresholds.

  • Priya,

    Sorry for the confusion, we posted at the same time independently. I see the discrepancy and we are double checking and will reply to this post with the correct setting. As for your comment about datasheet update, I will put in a request for this revision, however please note that datasheet changes for production devices take a long time to get approved.
